How much does it cost to file for bankruptcy in Florida? How can I pay for filing for bankruptcy?

Filing for personal bankruptcy generally occurs under Chapters 7 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. A Chapter 7 filing requires the payment of a $299.00 fee, and a Chapter 13 filing requires the payment of a $274.00 fee. In some cases involving very low-income debtors, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court may waive the Chapter 7 filing fee, and it also may be paid in installments over a period of time, usually with a minimum initial payment of $50.00.
